COVID-19 Pension Omorfi Poli safety measures

Dear guests,

The world is currently emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic and getting used to the "New Normal". The vaccine and antibody tests allow people to be having confidence in their movements. Still, precautions are being taken globally in order to minimize the further spread of infection, such as wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, face coverings, face shields, etc., additional cleaning and sanitization of high traffic points and physical distancing. These measures will also impact the way that a hotel operates.

During the lockdown we were busy preparing our rooms and all staff members to be fully in line with the special health protocols, as laid down by the Greek Ministries of Finance, Health and Tourism. The management and all members of our staff have received the necessary training to comply with the health protocols. It was a totally new experience since we were feeling (and looking) more than doctors and nurses than hotel staff.

Pension Omorfi Poli has obtained the “Health First” certification seal from the Ministry of Tourism, as well as the Training Certificate for Coronavirus-Protection and preventive measures in Tourist Accommodation from the University of Crete. We are proud to ensure a safe environment and pleasant holiday to our guests. We hope that you don’t perceive the necessary restrictions as an inconvenience.

Here are some of the COVID rules that might be interesting for you to know:

Check-in / Check-out:

update 6/11/21: Please show at check in your vaccination certificate, a test certificate or a certificate of recovery. 

  • Please avoid overcrowding and keep distance upon your arrival.

  • Our reception area is properly designed with the addition of floor marking and a protective shield between staff and guests.

  • We kindly ask you to use the antiseptic gel available at the reception desk and other common areas.

  • All key cards and keys are placed in a special container for disinfection before given to guests.

  • We must keep a record of all persons who stayed in our accommodation which you will have to fill out upon arrival or when booking through our website (name, nationality, contact details: address, telephone, e-mail, date of arrival and departure). This record is kept for public health protection reasons, so it is possible to communicate with the close contacts of any COVID-19 case, which may be identified afterwards.

  • Extended check –in and check-out hours between stays:

Check in: 14.00 - 18.00 h, Check out: 8.30 - 11.00 h

This change in the time intervals between every check-in and check-out is to ensure that between different customers the room is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected and adequately ventilated in a natural manner.
 

Housekeeping:

  • We have placed hand sanitizers in the hallways and common areas and of course in your room, please use them as often as you like and every time you enter or leave the house.

  • Our staff wears personal protective equipment and is tested on temperature every morning when they enter the property.

  • Public areas are cleaned and disinfected frequently with special care in high touch surfaces (door handles, railings, staircases, etc.)

  • If you wish  daily housekeeping, please put the label on your door knob to indicate to the cleaning staff that they can enter for cleaning.

  • If you don't wish that cleaning staff enters your room, please use the red label and put used towels outside your door to be replaced by fresh towels and toiletries by 11:00 every morning. Any waste bins requiring emptying, please place outside your door in the morning.

  • After your departure everything will be cleaned very diligently. All surfaces in the room and bathroom are first cleaned and then disinfected using the appropriate cleaning materials. (especially high traffic points such as door handles, light switches etc.) The fabric surfaces are cleaned with a steam device at a temperature of >70 C.

  • Remote controls are being disinfected and wrapped in foil after.

  • Inside of our hotel, each room contains its own AC unit (and not a central air-conditioning system that could spread germs and viruses from other areas into your room). We have maintained and disinfected all air-conditioning devices. Please note that physical ventilating by opening the windows ensures a safe and pollutant free indoor space and is recommended.

  • The staff complies with all hygiene rules when collecting dirty linen by using the appropriate personal protective equipment.

  • Used fabrics, bedding and towels are placed in closed, marked bags to be transported to the laundry facilities and will be washed in hot circles.

  • It is ensured that clean linen is maintained in a good and clean condition during their storage and transport to the use areas.

  • If necessary and in respect of the precautions, rooms will be disinfected with a portable UV disinfection lamp.

 

Breakfast

  • We offer breakfast in our Bistro from 8:30 till 11:00. If your reservation is without breakfast, you can order the night before by 19:00 h. 

  • Please understand that breakfast is no longer the self service buffet you all enjoyed through the years. The variety of food is still the same, but displayed behind a protective glass shield, so that guest will have no access. A person from our staff will be happy to fill your plate with what you desire.

  • Breakfast tables are set in accordance with the guidelines of social distancing in the pedestrian street and in our court.

 

Finally, I want to thank you for reading through all these regulations. Please, if you don’t feel well, don’t come. There will be no obligations concerning the room fee; we regard cancellations due to COVID-19 as a case of Force Majeure.

And, it is important to respect the effort of our cleaning staff. Behind the scene they work hard and in difficult conditions to keep you and our team safe!
